About this event

Who should attend this Masterclass?

Anyone from a North East SME keen to find out how their business can benefit financially from their development work around products or services.

Why should you attend this Masterclass?

HMRC R&D tax credits are designed to support SMEs with innovation. Any business investing time and resource in research and development should investigate the possibility of receiving a tax refund. This masterclass will explain the process and explore eligibility and provide a comprehensive look at all things R&D from qualifying projects & costs to claim preparation.

Presented in a workshop format to help people get just the information they need, delegates will be encouraged to ask the pertinent questions for their business and find out about the common pitfalls associated with R&D Tax Credits.

Outline programme for the morning:

09:00 Arrival and networking

09:15-10:15 R&D Tax Credits – what are they and what projects will qualify?

10:15-10:30 Break

10:30-11:00 Q&A, resources and sources of support

The workshop will be run by Nathan Embleton, Financial Controller, Blu Sky

The GX project, led by NewcastleGateshead Initiative, provides a range of opportunities to North-East SMEs and scaleups before, during and after the Great Exhibition of the North. The project is delivered by NewcastleGateshead Initiative in partnership with the Innovation SuperNetwork.

With a focus on innovation the project was originally designed to enable local businesses to benefit from the unique platform provided by the Exhibition in 2018, and it continues to capitalise on collaborations between the Smart Specialisation, Education and Cultural sectors through a programme of intensive business support running until December 2020.

This project is part-funded by the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.
